Clinics and Services
Contraception
We offer a full contraceptive service including coil fitting and emergency contraception which is confidential and available regardless of age. See Kathryn or Mary for advice and follow up.
Health Care Assistant
Michelle holds clinics every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning. See her for blood tests, ECG’s and new patient checks. Michelle also can help with weight loss management if you need to shred some pounds.
Minor Surgery
We can remove lumps and bumps, inject joints etc in the surgery. Make an appointment to see Dr Carr to discuss it first.
Warfarin Monitoring
You can have your blood tests in the surgery and receive the result and new dosage of Warfarin immediately.
Minor Injuries
We can attend to Minor Injuries such as cuts and sprains during Surgery hours, just phone reception.
Cervical Smears
All women are invited to have a cervical smear every three years between the ages of 25 and 49, after that every five years until age 64. Make an appointment when your smear is due.
Breast Awareness
Women aged between 50 and 70 are invited for a mammogram every three years at the Breast Screening Unit as part of the National Breast Screening Campaign. If you are over 70 and would like a mammogram this can be arranged with the Screening Service. If you have any worries the nurses will talk to you about breast awareness and teach self examination.
Men's Health
Men are good at neglecting their health, do feel free to make an appointment to discuss any worries you have regarding your general health, smoking cessation or perhaps prostate, or testicular problems or sexual difficulties.
Flu & Pneumonia Vaccination
Flu vaccination is available in early autumn each year. We recommend that all our patients over 65, and those of any age with asthma, chronic lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, kidney problems, or carers of patients with chronic illness have flu vaccination annually.
In addition all people over 65 and those of any age with the same chronic illnesses should ask for Pneumovax vaccine. This is a one off jab that lasts for life and protects against some forms of pneumonia and other infections. It is always available.
Maternity Care
Prior to pregnancy you may wish to discuss things with the doctor or nurse.
Once you are pregnant see the Doctor for a review. He will then give you a pregnancy booklet and arrange an appointment for you to see the community midwife Alaine Burnett.
Alaine holds a clinic on most Tuesday afternoons. She will then attend to most of your care during your pregnancy and following delivery.
Health Visiting
Paula will see you at home after the baby is born and provide child health care pre school.
Dr Carr will arrange necessary child health checks at 6 weeks.
In addition, child immunisation clinics are held twice a month. The dates for these are available in recepetion. For detailed information on childhood immunisation schedules visit www.immunisation.nhs.uk
District Nursing
Sister Sharon Statham and her team provide our District Nursing Service. If you are unable to get to the surgery and have nursing needs such as wound dressing, suture removal, injections etc let us know and we can contact the team for you.
Common Mental Health Problems
David Kingdon and Diane Derham are experienced Practice Therapists and hold regular counselling sessions to help with common mental health problems, see Dr Carr or Dr Lees to arrange referral.

Smoking Cessation
Bev Brown holds a weekly NHS Stop Smoking clinic on a Monday afternoon. If you are motivated to quit and want some help, please leave your contact details at the surgery and she will ring you.
Podiatry Clinic (Chiropody)
Beth Ward, a podiatrist employed by our local PCT holds weekly clinics. for a referral enquire at Reception .
Physiotherapy Clinic
There is now a physiotherapy clinic held every fortnight on a Wednesday afternoon. If you feel you would benefit from this service then please see a GP for referral.
